Crew: Interested in an adventure?
Pegaso has some ideas about future travels.
We are currently testing out systems and shaking out the cobwebs that evidently come with a complete rebuild of a large vessel like this. There is good progress.
We are currently (June/July) in the Chesapeake Bay at anchor or sailing, slowly working ourselves north, and are planning to spend the next winter in the Caribbean.
One of our ideas for the 24-25 season is to explore if we can attempt an East to West Northern Passage to start a 3-4 year circumnavigation of the Americas. Since Pegaso has circumnavigated the world twice before, using the Panama Canal, this might be some novel route that still calls out ‘adventure’. There might be some opportunity to make a documentary or maybe even live-stream the entire journey with new technology available and global warming making the Northern Passage less of a risky endeavor.
For this, we are looking to build up a pool of interested candidates to either join on the entire 3-4 year trip or join on certain segments. These are not paid positions but opportunities to sail a 62′ yacht in blue-water conditions with possibly the adventure of a lifetime. Participants might be asked to share some of the costs incurred during the segment they sail with us (food, fuel, mooring, port fees) unless we can find another way to generate revenue during the trip.
If you are interested in participating, please send your sailing resume and availability to info@sv-Pegaso.com. We will invite you on a trip and add you to the pool of candidates for the big adventure.
The ‘pool’ will be invited to in-person or remote calls to discuss details about the next steps, planning, status, potential revenue generation, etc. to plan the circumnavigation and any contingencies should the ice pack not cooperate in 2024.
